How to Take Care of a Tie

If you are like most of us, then you love wearing a high quality and great looking tie but never give much thought to how you can take care of it so that it will last longer.  The following suggestions should convince you that taking care of your tie requires very little time and effort.  You'll be glad to see your favorite ties still with you in the months ahead.

Taking care of your tie has never been easier.

Tips on Tie Care

When you untie your tie make sure that you repeat the steps followed for tying it, but in reverse order.  This is better than just pulling at the knot to make the loop big enough to slip your head through it.  Also if you keep your tie knotted after removing it, wrinkles and creases tend to be almost permanently conditioned into the fabric of your tie.

When you tie has been stained
the preferred way of removing the stain is to take it to your local dry cleaner. Their procedure for removing stains is quite proficient, however, along with the removal of the stain, you may notice that some of the shine and luster of your tie has also vanished.  This is why you should always protect your tie from stains.

When your tie has wrinkles
simply hang your tie up for a period of time and the wrinkles should fall out.  If you are planning a trip, roll your tie up and place it in your suitcase  in an area where it will not be pressed flat.  This will keep your tie free from wrinkles and looking great when you get to you next meeting or event.

Take care of your tie and you will see that it will keep you looking great at every outing.

One last note.  If at some point you need to iron your tie, make sure that you avoid the outer curved edges of the tie.  If these rounded curves are pressed flat then your tie will appear stiff and unnatural.  Only use an iron if it is absolutely necessary.
